Company: Power Digital

We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.

Jeff Mason: I’m the CEO of Power Digital, a tech-enabled growth firm that sits at the intersection of marketing, business strategy, and data intelligence. Our mission is simple: to relentlessly pursue growth, for our people and our clients. We leverage a data warehouse of over 23B of commerce data and 3B of media related data to help our clients find the path to their desired business outcomes. We’ve developed our Power Circuit process that aligns strategy and execution. As a result, the brands we partner with grow 2.6x faster than the industry average, consistently achieving 27%+ year-over-year revenue increases. Every capability we offer is designed to maximize ROI and help our clients build durable, profitable growth.

As CEO, I focus on three things: delivering strategic value for our clients – not just execution, innovating new services, and ensuring our culture remains one of our strongest competitive advantages. I first joined Power Digital as President in 2020 and stepped into the CEO role in 2023. One of the things I’m most proud of is the caliber of our team—a diverse group of marketers, creatives, analysts, and technologists who continually challenge the norms of strategy, execution, and measurement to deliver real impact for our clients.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about sports (golf, football, and basketball are my go-tos) and I’m an unapologetic dog lover. I’m also a big foodie, both in the kitchen and out exploring restaurants. In fact, I’m a co-owner and investor in several restaurants in the San Diego area, which is a creative outlet I really enjoy.

What were the most significant challenges you faced during the scaling process, and how did you overcome them?

Jeff Mason: Rapid growth puts intense pressure on every part of an organization. One of the biggest challenges we faced, and one I see many CEOs grapple with, is the temptation to hire quickly just to keep pace with demand. That approach almost always backfires. If you rush, you risk misaligning talent with the company’s needs, which can create downstream challenges that are far harder to unwind.

We overcame this by being intentional about every hire, even when the pressure was high. We built a structured recruiting process, prioritized cultural alignment as much as technical skill, and surrounded ourselves with seasoned leaders and advisors who could help us see around corners. Perhaps most importantly, I had to embrace the fact that I cannot do everything myself. Building a leadership bench you can truly trust is critical to scaling sustainably because the right people make every other challenge easier to solve.

How did you ensure that your company culture remained intact as your business expanded?

Jeff Mason: Since 2020, Power Digital has grown from 100 to more than 800 employees, expanded across major U.S. cities and internationally, and acquired five companies. Growth at this scale demands a strong culture or you risk losing what makes the company special.

To scale intentionally, we built a dedicated People Organization with specialized teams across Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Employee Experience, and more. We designed onboarding, continuous learning programs, and leadership development tracks that unify and upskill teams across regions and functions.

Celebrating team success is part of our DNA. We recognize wins often, encourage mentorship, and invest in programs like Personal Hedgehog and Vital 5 that help team members set and achieve both personal and professional goals. This intentional approach to onboarding, training, and recognition has fueled our ability to expand existing client relationships while winning new business across consumer brand, B2B, and private equity verticals.

Our retention rates speak for themselves. We retain 95% which reinforces our concept that a people-first culture and strong business performance go hand-in-hand.

What strategies did you employ to maintain quality and customer satisfaction while scaling rapidly?

Jeff Mason: Scaling quickly without sacrificing quality comes down to one thing: alignment. When your people, processes, and priorities are all moving in the same direction, you can grow without losing what makes your company great. At Power Digital, we built clear systems and support structures where people drive the vision, services deliver the value, and technology enables scale without compromise.

Our core values keep everyone focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for clients, the company, and themselves. We lead with people and center everything around these principles: integrity, loyalty, and trust above all; maintain autonomy and freedom; challenge yourself regularly; find solutions instead of dwelling on problems; embrace change; always innovate; go beyond what is necessary; and have fun along the way. These values aren’t just words on a wall—they are built into how we hire, train, and recognize our team.

This foundation has allowed us to scale without eroding quality. Our clients consistently see stronger returns, more efficient marketing spend, and faster revenue growth because every part of our organization is aligned around delivering business impact at the highest level.

Can you share a specific turning point that was crucial for your business’s successful scaling?

Jeff Mason: As a scaling business, there are many turning points. Reimagining our go-to-market strategy, investing into new service lines like fusepoint, or simply putting the right people in the right seats at the right time. But one of the most pivotal moments in our recent history was the rollout of our divisional structure.

Earlier this year, we reorganized Power Digital into seven vertical-specific divisions (CPG, Fashion, B2B, Consumer Services, Lifestyle, Enterprise, and Core). Each division operates like a vertical-specific agency with deep expertise, while still being powered by a centralized strategy, measurement, data, and technology. It’s the best of both worlds: the agility and domain knowledge of a specialized firm, with the scale and sophistication of a full-service platform.

This structure was designed to solve real growth strategies like consistent client outcomes, team skill alignment and vertical-specific expertise brands are really looking for. By aligning these teams around shared KPIs, with clear leadership and vertical ownership, we’ve created better accountability, faster decision-making, and more consistent delivery.

In the first 90 days, we saw immediate impact:
– Client revenue growth rose to 12.3%
– Team culture improved as we staffed accounts based on vertical alignment and functional strength
– Cross-functional coordination accelerated, especially when paired with tools like PowerGrid and the Power Circuit
