Hailey Rodaer shares how Engrave Ink combines compassionate communication with careful technology choices. Her perspective shows why meaningful customer relationships matter when a company serves families honoring loved ones. The interview explores transparent processes; respectful service; and a belief that innovation should strengthen human connection rather than replace it.

As Marketing Director at Engrave Ink, I lead the development and execution of brand, digital, and customer engagement strategies. My focus is on shaping and supporting an honest, compassionate brand that helps people honor grief, love, and memory — while driving growth through thoughtful, emotionally resonant marketing.

Company: Engrave Ink

We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company.

Hailey Rodaer: I am Hailey Rodaer, and I serve as the Marketing Director at Engrave Ink. My work is centered on building a brand that feels compassionate, respectful, and honest for the families and individuals who trust us. I spend my days shaping how we connect with people online and offline, making sure every interaction reflects the care that is at the heart of what we do.

Engrave Ink is a memorial tattoo company based in the United States. We create custom tattoo ink that is blended with a small portion of cremation ashes from a loved one or pet. The ashes are handled with careful sterilization before being mixed into professional-grade ink, which is then sent to the tattoo artist chosen by the customer. This gives people a very personal way to carry memory, meaning, and love with them permanently through a tattoo.

What emerging technology trends do you believe will have the most profound impact in the next 5-10 years?

Hailey Rodaer: The technology that will have the most profound impact is the continued development of augmented reality for creating deeply personal, immersive experiences. I believe we are moving toward a future where our digital and physical worlds will blend in more meaningful ways, especially when it comes to how we engage with our own memories and the stories of the people we love.

This technology will allow us to layer our digital memories onto our physical spaces. Imagine being able to look at a favorite armchair and see a holographic video of your father telling a story, or walking through a park and seeing a memory of your child playing there. For my work, which is all about making memory tangible, this represents a powerful new frontier. It will offer an entirely new way to continue the bond with those we have lost, transforming remembrance from a static photo into a living, interactive experience.

Can you share a specific technological breakthrough from your company that has the potential to reshape your industry?

Hailey Rodaer: Our most significant technological breakthrough is the proprietary method we developed that we call the Molecular Infusion Process. Earlier methods in the industry often involved simply mixing the ash particles into tattoo ink. Our process is much more advanced. We refine the cremation ashes down to their core carbon element and then molecularly bond that carbon with the ink pigment. This creates a final product that is completely smooth, sterile, and perfectly homogenous, with the ash becoming a true part of the ink’s structure.

This has the potential to reshape our industry because it establishes an entirely new clinical standard for safety and purity. For clients and tattoo artists, it removes any possible concern about the ink’s quality or sterility, offering complete peace of mind. On a more personal level, it transforms the idea of a memorial tattoo. It is not just a mixture anymore but is a true union. The very essence of a loved one becomes a fundamental part of the color that will be used to create their tribute, deepening the connection and the meaning behind the art itself.

How do you approach innovation while balancing the need for practicality and market readiness?

Hailey Rodaer: My approach to innovation always begins and ends with the emotional and practical needs of our clients. For us, a new idea is never about just being new; it is about finding a way to better serve a family on their journey of remembrance. Any potential innovation, whether it is a small process change or a larger concept, is first measured against one simple question: does this make our clients feel safer, more connected, and more cared for? If it does not, we do not pursue it.

This philosophy naturally creates the balance between innovation and practicality. For us, practicality means absolute safety, transparency, and emotional respect. Market readiness is achieved not by rushing, but by educating and listening. We introduce changes slowly and thoughtfully, ensuring that both the families we serve and the tattoo artists we work with feel confident and comfortable. Our innovation is always guided by compassion, which ensures that what we create is both meaningful and ready to be received with trust.

What challenges do you face in integrating cutting-edge technology into existing business models?

Hailey Rodaer: The challenge we face is making sure that any new technology enhances the human connection and trust at the core of our service, rather than diminishing it. Our business is built on warmth, personal care, and compassion. Cutting-edge technology, by its nature, can sometimes feel cold, automated, or impersonal, which is the exact opposite of the experience we promise to provide our clients during a very sensitive time.

The main difficulty is integrating technology in a way that it serves the emotional journey of our clients without becoming a distraction or a source of anxiety. For any new tool we consider, our task is to translate its technical function into a simple, warm, and reassuring experience. The technology must always remain a quiet tool in the background that supports the care and trust we provide upfront. It has to provide peace of mind in a very human way, never making a family feel like they are interacting with a system instead of with people who care.

How do you foster a culture of innovation within your organization to stay ahead in the tech race?

Hailey Rodaer: To stay ahead, we foster a culture of innovation that is intensely focused on the technology of trust and safety. For our clients, the most advanced technology is the one that gives them absolute peace of mind. Our innovation is therefore dedicated to perfecting every scientific and procedural step that guarantees the integrity, purity, and respectful handling of a loved one’s ashes. This is the race we are committed to leading.

We encourage this through a very hands-on, cross-departmental process. Our lab technicians, client care specialists, and marketing team collaborate constantly to review and improve our methods. Our lab explores more advanced purification and infusion techniques, while our client care and marketing teams work on how to make those technical safeguards completely transparent and understandable. This ensures every innovation we pursue is directly tied to strengthening the core promise we make to each family: that their loved one is being cared for with the most advanced and compassionate methods possible.
