We are thrilled to have you join us today, welcome to ValiantCEO Magazine’s exclusive interview! Let’s start off with a little introduction. Tell our readers a bit about yourself and your company
Dark Joseph Ravine: My company, Focus Five Group, is a marketing agency that aims to help change lives for the better. We specialize in many forms of marketing with social media being the best. Our goal is to help our clients go viral on social media in a way that makes them look good and help their posts get recommended. I always had a love for marketing, but I never took it seriously until the start of this year. What I do for myself as “Dark Joseph Ravine” is what I would do for my clients, which is why my marketing agency is located within my personal site.
Can you share a time when your business faced a significant challenge? How did you navigate through it?
Dark Joseph Ravine: I faced many challenges in the past because I used to believe all the people I saw on YouTube on how to go viral on social media and none of the methods I was taught by them actually worked. I navigated through it by developing my own method to go viral and help my clients do the same. Today, I have a major following across my socials of a combination of 1.7 million followers, that I developed all on my own through my own navigation.
How has a failure or apparent failure set you up for later success?
Dark Joseph Ravine: Losing a lot of money from people who claimed that I would get on the recommended page of social media and I did not, has been an ongoing failure for many years of my life until I decided to learn how to do it on my own. The method I built was getting a combination of high quality traffic on a social media post and from that it would lead to the recommendation page. The failure taught me to understand it is not about the quantity but the quality of your social media engagement. Learning about quality over quantity has made a big difference in my marketing agency because now I can make anyone viral.
How do you build a resilient team? What qualities do you look for in your team members?
Dark Joseph Ravine: As of this point, I only have my family as my team members and I am not looking for anyone else to hire because of trust issues, but even without a team, I could manage my marketing agency on my own. The advice I would give to anyone building a team is make sure it is people you have known for years and fully trust them because today with business it is hard to trust anyone.
How do you maintain your personal resilience during tough times?
Dark Joseph Ravine: I always tell myself, “do not worry, everyone goes through tough times before they succeed. This is a temporary stage, before something amazing is about to happen”. From my understanding, there has never been a single celebrity that has not faced tough times before they have succeeded.
What strategies do you use to manage stress and maintain focus during a crisis?
Dark Joseph Ravine: My main strategy is always to have faith in G-d as much as possible because, I truly believe everything comes from G-d. I like singing the song to myself during my tough times, “don’t you worry child, heaven’s got a plan for you”.
How do you communicate with your team during a crisis?
Dark Joseph Ravine: Since it is my family, we all always comfort each other during our hard times and because we do, that is how we overcome the problems quickly. We are all believers in G-d and because of how much faith we have in G-d, that is why we do not fear as much.
What advice would you give to other CEOs on building resilience in their organizations?
Dark Joseph Ravine: As I always say to everyone including myself, “put G-d first with everything you do because G-d is the only one that can make miracles”. Even Nicki Minaj said in her interviews, one of the tools to succeed is to “have faith in G-d”.
How do you prepare your business for potential future crises?
Dark Joseph Ravine: The truth is no one is ever prepared because anything is a possibility at any point of someone’s life. This is why I say, “live under the will of G-d and remember that he will guide you to where he wants you in the future”.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned about leadership in times of crisis?
Dark Joseph Ravine: The lesson I learned from times of crisis is that when someone puts G-d first, they think in terms of humanity, and how to handle situations. Ever since I got spiritually connected to G-d, I feel my whole life has changed for the better financially, personally, and physically. G-d is all love and positivity therefore we have to think the same way about life, no matter how hard it may be.
